A very large tibetan or nepali brass and copper gau box, done with repousse work. This gau is openable and closes securely. The backside depicts a double-dorje with ying and yang in the center. The frontside shows the double-fish and Chippu. This prayer box is used to hold and carry powerful amuletic objects. As used in Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and Mongolia, the Gau box usually contains a written prayer or a sacred yantra diagram such as the kalachakra.
